Hello! I grew up in Irvine where I graduated from Woodbridge High in 1983. I went straight to Cal. State Fullerton, where I earned my Bachelor of Science degree, in Child Development. In 1988, I completed the C.S.U.F. Teacher Education program. Ü This is my 24th year of teaching, all of which I've spent in the Corona-Norco USD. I spent 7 years teaching fourth grade at Highland, 3 years teaching sixth grade at Highland, 3 years teaching fifth grade at Washington, one year teaching third grade at Garretson, and now ten years teaching third grade at Corona Ranch. In 2003, I was honored to be chosen as Corona Ranch Teacher of the Year.
I've been married to my husband, Richard, for 24 years. He owns his own packaging company, which allows him to have a very flexible schedule. We're very lucky to be able to spend so much time with our children. We have been blessed with two beautiful and intelligent daughters- Danika (age 20) and Rylan (age 17).
Danika graduated from Kennedy High in June 2009. While there she earned 22 college units at RCC. Like many people her age, Danika does not know what she wants to do with her life. I wish her many blessings in her pursuit of happiness and life. She works and enjoys hanging out with her friends.
Rylan is a senior in high school. She is our "free spirited" child, who does not really care what others think. She loves God, being silly, eating chocolate, and hanging out with her friends. Rylan is very involved with the activities at Crossroads. She enjoys watching Disney movies and living life to its fullest.
Our pets include: Our cats Sarah and Mia

This web site is dedicated in memory of my parents,David and Suzanne, who have both passed away. Their encouragement, love, and guidance helped me become the person I am today.
I love being a teacher! Along with teaching the standards, my goal is to help students develop a sense of responsibility for their own learning, their behavior, and their choices. I have high expectations for each of my students. I rarely have a student who does not rise to the occasion and push themselves to strive for their personal best. I believe in natural consequences and holding children accountable. You are welcome in our class at any time.

My favorite family trips: *We spent 9 summers with my best friend from high school, Kim and her family, in Carlsbad * July 19-28, 2004 We drove to Oregon, where we went river rafting and sight seeing. On the way back home, visited Pismo Beach, Hearst Castle, the Reagan Library, and various other places.
* October 22 - November 23, 2004 the four of us took off on October 22, 2004 for a month long, adventure trip across the United States, with our toy hauler. We had no reservations or plans...just where we decided to go that day and how long we wanted to stay there. It was the best! Our girls still talk about this trip. We rode our quads at Hurricane Dunes and Coral Pink Sand Dunes, in Utah, and visited Zion National Park. In Arizona, we visited Cinderhills, Sedona, saw Slide Rock State Park, the Petrified Forest and the Painted Desert. We rode our quads in New Mexico at the Farmington OHV, we also visited Four Corners, and Carlsbad Caverns. We loved the snow in Colorado. We spent time in Durango and drove through the Rio Grande National Forest. In Texas, we visited Amarillo (wouldn't go there again) and rode our quads at Fun Wheeler Park...what fun in the mud we had. In Oklahoma, we toured the Oklahoma State Capitol where we met and were given a personal tour by Senator Ben Robinson. We visited the Oklahoma City National Memorial, where the Alfred P. Murrah Building use to stand. Our next stop was Arkansas, where we visited Little Rock, drove through Galloway (my maiden name), and crossed the Mississippi River as we drove into Tennessee. In Tennessee, we saw Memphis and toured Elvis Presley's Graceland. This was the point where we turned to start heading home. This led us south to Mississippi, where visited the state capitol. We drove 251 miles across Louisiana and stayed in Shreveport. We arrived back home, in Corona, on November 23, 2004. It was a fantastic month together on the road. The girls learned all 50 states and capitals on this adventure. * March 8-15, 2005- our family went to Washington D.C. This was great, because both girls (in 5th and 8th grades) were studying American History. I wrote to our Congressman, Ken Calvert, and was able to get us on a tour of the White House and Capitol building. We toured all the Smithsonian Museums, the Holocaust Memorial Museum, World War II Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Korean Memorial, Vietnam Veterans Memorial, Korean War Memorial, FDR Memorial, the Jefferson Memorial, Arlington National Cemetary, Ford's Theatre, the National Cathedral, and Georgetown. We learned to ride the Metro and took several Old Town Trolley Tours...which were so informative! We also took our first train trip. We decided to go to New York, at the last minute, for a day. During our time in New York, we saw Penn Station, Macy's (Miracle on 34th St.), Battery Park, Wall Street, the Statue of Liberty, inside the Empire State Buiding, Madison Square Garden, Ground Zero and Time Square. *December 27, 2005-January 4, 2006 our family went to Disney World, in Florida. We visited the Magic Kingdom, MGM Studios, Animal Kingdom, and our favorite, Epcot. *April 6-15, 2006 we went to Hawaii. We stayed in Waikiki Beach. While there, we visited the state captiol, North Shore, Chukai Beach Park, the Dole Plantation, experienced a luau, had a fantastic catamaran trip where we swam with the dolphins and sea turtles. During the trip we also ate malsadas from Leonard's, visited the Nuuanu Pali Lookout, the U.S.S. Arizona Memorial, and the U.S.S. Missouri, swam in the Waimea Falls and walked along the beach of Wakiki
My favorite teachers:
Elementary School
*second grade-Mrs. Slemons at Longly Way Elem. in Arcadia. She had a class guineapig which I got to take home and take care of one weekend. After that I was hooked on guineapigs as pets.
*third grade-Mrs. Strampe at Longly Way Elem. in Arcadia. I was in her last class before she retired. I learned that you could be a loving and firm teacher, with high expectations. We knew she loved coming to school each day.
*fourth grade-Mrs. Graney at Verdugo Woodlands in Glendale. She was the first "young" teacher I ever had. She taught me to crochet Granny Squares and developed my love for reading aloud. I fondly remember when she read Charlotte's Web to our class.
*sixth grade-Mr. Lichman at Verdugo Woodlands in Glendale. He was my first male teacher. I really wanted him for my sixth grade teacher because he had a "cool" classroom and did fun things. Mr. Lichman built a loft in his classroom above the cupboards. Now I wonder if that was really up to fire code. He taught us about circuits by having us bring in an old telephone and linking it to a phone in another teacher's classroom...cords ran up and down the hallway. Hmmm...would that meet fire codes today? Ü
Rancho Intermediate in Irvine
*eighth grade-
Mr. Schmenk and his two teaching partners (their names escape me at the moment) were the three teachers of the Alternative Program, which was more focused than the regular classes. I loved the hours I spent learning in their classes.
Mr. Linden, my P.E. teacher. I remember thinking that he was a pretty cool "old" guy, in his 40's, who surfed everyday in Newport. Ü
Mr. Anderson, my science teacher, who had a room full of reptiles and amphibians.
University High in Irvine
*ninth grade-
Mr. Morris, my social studies teacher. He made learning seem pretty effortless.
Mrs. Kasparian my english teacher. I remember how excited she got when we read Romeo and Julliet.
Woodbridge High in Irvine
*tenth-twelfth grades
Mr. Rutter who I had for Biology and Anatomy/Physiology. He was such a passionate teacher whose enthusiasm made me always smile in his class. We dissected a frog, a fetal pig, and a cat in the two years I had him. He always called us silly names...I was "Terri-inni-miniscoot". I was sad to learned that he died about six years ago.
Mr Lindfors was my fabulous social studies teacher. I could tell that he loved being a teacher. He taught our class how to file a tax return and the importance of learning from history. I unfortunatley have lost track of him over the years.
Mr. Dena, was my Driver's Ed. teacher. He was also a part-time bartender, so he told us lots of stories...which I keep in mind today when I'm behind the wheel.
Ms. Denzen, my cheerleading advisor. She had very high standards that we were held to.
Mr. Schmenk (who I also had in 8th grade), I was so thrilled to have him as my high school creative writing teacher. I remember that he wrote detailed comments on each of our papers. I always felt like he truly cared about his students.
Mrs. Kasparian (who I also had in ninth grade) and Mrs. Mitchell, were a wonderful language arts duo. They developed a love for learning, reading, and writing with their fun antics. We knew they would never accept less than our very best effort.
Mrs. Mitchell and I, at her retirement, in 2005. Many of her former students came to celebrate her as an educator.
